Thelma Stull

Beach, North Dakota: Thelma Stull, age 91, of Beach passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Wibaux County Nursing Home in Wibaux, Montana. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Beach. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Beach Evangelical Church in Beach with Pastor Ben Baker officiating. Interment will follow at the Beach City Cemetery in Beach. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach has been entrusted with the arrangements. Thelma was born on December 27, 1921, in Alexandria, Minnesota, a daughter of Fred and Hazel (Trefethren) Lydeen. Thelma was raised and educated in Alexandria, graduating with the class of 1939. After graduation she attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota, completing a six month Business Course. Thelma was hired to be a household assistant on a farm in Minnesota where she met John Stull. They were later married in the parsonage on March 29, 1941 in Morrison County, Minnesota. Following their marriage, John and Thelma lived south of Sentinel Butte, North Dakota where they farmed for many years. In 1960, they moved to the Peterson Place north of Beach where they continued to farm until their retirement in 1978. After their retirement, John and Thelma moved to Beach and in 2009 they moved to the Golden Valley Manor in Beach where they resided until John’s passing. Thelma then relocated to the Wibaux County Nursing Home where she resided until her death. John and Thelma were privileged to have been married over seventy-one years. Thelma was very active in the community and loved spending time with her family. Thelma loved the Lord and was a good Christian example to everyone she met. She was a fantastic cook and many people enjoyed her fresh baked buns and caramel rolls. She enjoyed traveling, working on crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and spending time in her flower garden. Thelma was a member and held various offices in the Beach Evangelical Church, the Golden Valley County Garden Club and was a twenty-five year member of the 3-H Homemaker’s Club She enjoyed being on the bowling team where she bowled a 300 game. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Stull; her parents, Fred Lydeen and Hazel Lydeen; one brother, Fred Lydeen Jr.; one sister, Ardoth Arrowood; one grandson, Nathaniel Stull. Survivors include her five children, David (Dee) Stull of Stockton, California, Daniel (Kathy) Stull of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sandra (Ernie) Salazar of Chula Vista, California, Linda (Pete) Torgerson of Edinburg, North Dakota, Marla Stull and friend Rick Flink of Bismarck, North Dakota; three brothers, Harry (June) Lydeen of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Elroy (Beverly) Lydeen of Kerrville, Texas and Norman (Carole) Lydeen of Hugo, Minnesota; two sisters, De Lois Thorson of Onamia, Minnesota and Karen (Lyle) Olson of Lakeville, Minnesota; one brother-in-law, George, Jr. (Jean) Stull of Yankton, South Dakota; three sisters-in-law, Vonda Stull of Wibaux, Donna Sygulla of Beach and Carolyn Lydeen of St. Cloud, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 15 step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials are suggested to the Beach Evangelical Church Building Fund or the Golden Valley Manor Foundation in Thelma’s Memory.
