Robert L. Eiker

Robert LeRoy "Bob" Eiker, age 67, of Glendive, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2004 at the Glendive Medical Center after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2004, from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Sunday, October 17, 2004 at the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 18, 2004 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Father Denis Fournier officiating. Rite of Committal will be in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements. Honorary casketbearers are all of his coffee buddies at the Trail Star and his grandson, Casey Burk, who is serving in Kuwait. Bob was born on May 11, 1937 in Glendive, Montana, the son of William T. and Marguerite (Guelff) Eiker. He was raised and educated in Glendive and attended Dawson County High School. Bob married Marion Sterhan in November of 1954 and they were later divorced. Bob was united in marriage to Pat Cundall Amundson in Pinedale, Wyoming on August 8, 1964. Bob and Pat resided in various locations until moving to Glendive in 1969. Bob worked for various oilfield companies until 1970 when he became self employed at Eiker Inc. for 22 years. Bob was a very faithful, devoted man and his sense of humor was one of his families greatest treasures. He found great joy in his grandkids and having his children and grandchildren with him was about all he really wanted from this life. Bob loved his work and his theory was "you have to have something to get up for". Running an honest business was very important to him - he would have rather lost the "job" than to have been dishonest in getting it. He also believed that it was important to give someone a second chance. Bob was very proud that he was able to work until the time of his death. Bob's hobbies included agate work, stone faceting and he loved to camp and go boating with his family and friends. He enjoyed old cars - especially his ‘56 Lincoln. Bob loved dogs and was always known to have one or two around him. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Bill Eiker; an infant son, Dougie; his stepfather, Everett Reed; father-in-law, John Cundall; mother-in-law, Nila Cundall, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Johnny Bentz; and brother-in-law, Jack Cundall. Survivors include his wife, Pat Eiker, of Glendive; his children, Deb and Brad Davis of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Donnie and Athena Burk of Aurora, Washington, Paul and Marlene Eiker of Glendive and Jodee and Joe Hadley of Brookings, South Dakota; his mother, Marguerite Reed of Glendive; sisters-in-law, Linda and Mike Niedge and family of Miles City, Montana and Dorothy Cundall and family of Beaverton, Oregon; brother-in-law, Harold and Joan Cundall and family and nephews and nieces of the Bentz family, all of Utah; his grandchildren, Shawn and Shane Davis, Casey and Dani Burk, Kortney, Torrie and Haylee Eiker, Jelissa, Micayla, Kaitlyn and Logan Hadley; one great granddaughter, Kirsten Davis.
