Edith Bosserman

Golva, North Dakota: Edith May (Weinreis) Bosserman, age 67, of Golva, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011 after a courageous nine month battle with cancer. Edith went to be with her Lord, surrounded by her family at her home in Golva. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Beach, North Dakota. A second visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. also on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Evangelical Church in Beach with a family and friends service at 6:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Evangelical Church in Beach with Doctor James Isaac and Reverend Curtis Dikoff officiating. Interment will be held in the Beach City Cemetery in Beach. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach has been entrusted with the arrangements. Edith was born in Beach on July 26, 1943, a daughter of Lloyd and Violet (Anthony) Weinreis. She was raised on the family farm southeast of Golva, the oldest of twelve children. She graduated from Golva High School in 1961 and the National School of Business in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1963. After graduation, she began working at the state’s attorney office in Beach until she married Melvin Bosserman in December of 1963. She then began her lifelong career of raising her seven children and was very involved in every aspect of the farm. She loved working with numbers and was a member of the Beach Evangelical Church where she worked as church treasurer. She taught her children so many valuable lessons, such as the importance of enjoying hard work and playing hard too, the importance of family and finding the humor in everyday life. Above all, Mom gave us the gift of a foundation in Christ and we take great comfort in knowing that we will spend eternity with her. Edith was always so gracious and welcoming to everyone who walked through her door. She so selflessly served others and always made everyone feel right at home. Words cannot express how remarkable this great lady was. She has touched the lives and hearts of so many. Her family was her pride and joy and her grandkids were the light of her life. She enjoyed many camping trips, snowmobiling trips, giving rides in Granny’s yellow jeep, entertaining at her house, Gramma’s Campouts, Sunday afternoons at the dam, and traveling with Mel. Edith was the heart of her immediate and extended family and she will leave a void in our lives that can never be filled. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Violet Weinreis and one infant grandson, Dylan Bosserman. Edith is survived by her husband, Mel; three sons, Mark and Deb (Jolee, Brett, and Kaylee), Jason and Julie (Rachel, Cassie, Grace, Andrea, and Ellie), and Michael and Lara (Baby Bosserman) all of Golva; four daughters, Sherri and Raphael Finneman (Kelsey, Cody, Kylie, and Kori) of Craig, Colorado, Lori and Dave Leber (Riley, Delaney, and Sidney) of Vale, South Dakota, Kim and Mike Van Horn (Karissa, Faith, Ty, and Blake) of Sentinel Butte, North Dakota, and Kari Bosserman of Beach; two great grandsons, Landon and Caden; eleven brothers and sisters, Joyce Bosserman (Larry) of Glendive, Montana, Chuck (Nina) Weinreis of Minatare, Nebraska, Ruth (Glenn) Hudson of Dickinson, North Dakota, Gene (JoAnne) Weinreis of Golva, Jim (Rebecca)Weinreis of Sentinel Butte, George (Pamela) Weinreis of Sentinel Butte, Danny (Callie) Weinreis of Minatare, Jerry (Mary) Weinreis of Golva, Cheryl (Edwin) Hammond of Golva, Sheila (Dan) Zachmann of Golva, and Lee (Charlene) Weinreis of Golva; and numerous nieces and nephews.
