GLENDIVE, MONTANA: Matthew Ross Siegle, 25, died on August 14, 2010 at his home near Glendive following an extended illness. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, 9:00 A,M. until 1:00 P.M. in the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in the Zion Lutheran Church of Glendive with Pastor Avis Anderson and Reverend Sam Summers officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery of Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with the arrangements. Matthew was born on December 11, 1984 in Terry, MT to David and Lynnette (Lafond) Siegle. Following a courageous battle with cancer, he was welcomed home into the arms of his savior Jesus Christ, on August 14, 2010 at his home near Glendive, surrounded by his loving family. Matt was raised on the family farm west of Glendive and loved farm life. Over the years his passion for life was unmatched as he pursued many loves like fishing, hunting, wrestling, cooking, entertaining, music and art. Matt was always the source of laughter and much joy. He graduated from DCHS in 2003. He attended DCC in Glendive, graduating in 2006 with both an Associate of Science and an Associate of Art degree. Matt went on to attend MSU in Bozeman, MT. Matt married his soul mate and best friend Katie Lynn Shepherd, of Glendive, on July 2, 2010. In his short time on this earth, Matt was able to experience true unconditional love with Katie, the kind that most never find. He said he will be fishing and waiting at the lake for her, when it's her time to join him. Matt began his battle with osteosarcoma when he was 18. Throughout the past 7 years he endured many surgeries, chemotherapies, hospitalizations and radiation treatments. Through it all, Matt showed his true character and never complained and always thought of others. His desire for there to be no more suffering for young children prompted him to start his dream foundation, "Fishin' For The Cure". It has become an annual fishing tournament held at Fort Peck Lake. Money raised is used to fund research in hopes of finding a cure for childhood cancer. Matt will leave a legacy and a footprint on this earth that will forever change the lives of many. His passing will leave a tremendous void for his family, friends, the community of Glendive and beyond. Matt's final wish for his loved ones was to never forget to enjoy the little things, to "Dream as if you'll live forever and live as if you'll die tomorrow", and to "stay strong in the Lord." We all find peace in knowing that we will see our brave warrior again in Heaven. We couldn't be more in awe of his courage and unwavering faith. Matt fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 Matt will be forever missed by his wife Katie of Glendive, his parents, Lynnette Siegle of Belgrade, MT and David Siegle of Miles City, MT; his sisters, Heidi (Mark) Fasting of Bozeman and Tracy (GJ) Russo of Belgrade; his brother, Cole (Shanna) Siegle of Belle Plaine, MN; his Grandmother, Frances Lafond, of Glendive, nieces and nephews, Alexia, Jace, Jalyn, Sophia, Kale, Noah, Boden, Tristan, Kayleigh, and Addelyn. Also his mother and father in law, Kent and Sheri Shepherd of Glendive, sister in law Krista (Josh) Mix of Helena, brother in law Kyle Shepherd of Glendive, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
