Tyler Kniepkamp

Circle, Montana: Tyler Reaves Kniepkamp, age 19, joined family members and friends as he headed to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the First Lutheran Church in Circle. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 20, 2013 at the First Lutheran Church in Circle with Pastor Nathan Hall officiating. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements. Tyler was born on September 9, 1993 to Mike and Kathy (Miller) Kniepkamp. He attended Circle High School in Circle graduating with the class of 2012. Following high school Tyler moved to Butte, Montana where he had just finished his first year of college at Montana Tech of the University of Montana, pursuing a degree in petroleum engineering. Tyler’s hobbies included coyote hunting with his dad, hunting, fishing, puttering with engines, watching football (his favorite team was the Green Bay Packers), visiting with family and friends and boating and snowmobiling. Tyler always enjoyed and appreciated his mom’s good food and was looking forward to a summer of home-cooked meals. He was an awesome cook himself and was famous for his breakfast sandwich! Enjoying the opportunity to work on vehicles, Tyler liked his job at Rick’s Body Shop, always having fun working with and teasing Chad Gardner. He also helped area farmers and ranchers during branding and in the fields. As an ambitious little boy, he liked working outside with this dad, uncles and grandpa, often times spending an afternoon in the tractor. For many summers, Tyler worked at auctions with his extended family. This summer was to be his second year working construction for Mid-Rivers. All who knew Tyler were taken in by his charm, thoughtfulness, independence, ambition and wit. His charm extended to all generations; he was as comfortable with his peers as he was with a ninety year old, a baby or any age in between. He could bring a smile to the faces and hearts of all with his considerate nature. That was one of his many gifts. Tyler was a give-it-his-all type of guy which was evidenced during his high school football career. He won many awards, and was selected to play in the Bob Cleavery Class C. football game. He was very proud of once receiving the game ball, on recognition of his passion for the game, which he gave to the person he called “his hero” Grandpa Kniepkamp. During his school career, Tyler was in choir, track, basketball, football and National Honor Society. He always enjoyed an opportunity to play a game of basketball wanting to beat his dad, sisters and cousins! Tyler was a member of First Lutheran Church, sometimes even leading the congregation in singing the liturgy. Tyler always enjoyed time with his family and was very close to his parents and sisters. That closeness of family extended to all his aunts, uncles and cousins, recently getting together with many of them, surprising his parents with a trip home to celebrate their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Tyler was preceded in death by his Grandpa Miller, Grandma Kniepkamp and close lifelong friends, Paul Schillinger and Brock Louden. Tyler is survived by his parents, Mike and Kathy Kniepkamp; sister, Tara (Shane) Bjornson and their son, Riley of Minot, North Dakota; sister, Katie Kniepkamp of Dickinson, North Dakota; grandmother, Marie Miller of Glendive; grandfather, Stan Kniepkamp of Lindsay; his little redhead gal, Shelby Mallin; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. To say Tyler will be sorely missed by his family and friends would be an understatement. However, we also know he is being welcomed into his Heavenly home by a rousing crowd lead by those grandparents and friends. Together they could all be enjoying a good visit and perhaps a game of pig, tag football or a hand of pinochle as those of us remaining on earth grieve the loss of his shining personality, quick wit and always appreciated visits and consideration of others.
