June Boje

June Boje, age 89 of Glendive, Montana passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive. A birthday celebration of June’s life will be held on Thursday, July 16, at 7:00 p.m. at the Glendive Senior Center. Private family graveside service will be held in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements. June was born on July 15, 1936 In Glendive, Montana to Gay and Helen (Blackwell) Skogas. She grew up on the family farm in Lindsey MT. Spent her early school years at Learvold school and graduated from Dawson County High School in 1954. On April 13, 1958, June married the love of her life, Tom Boje. Together they built a successful family business but also a loving home where faith, hard work, kindness, and family were the foundation of everyday life. Together they raised four daughters while owning and operating Alken Motors, Avis Rent-a Car, Tri-State Leasing and the Alkens carwash in Glendive and TJ’s in Sidney. Throughout her life, June held many jobs, including working at the hardware store and the Ranger Review, Book-n-Bear and alongside Tom at Alken Motors. Whether working in the business or caring for her family, June poured her heart into everything she did. June was an accomplished seamstress who lovingly sewed coordinating clothing for her daughters when they were young, later mending clothes for her grandchildren and creating beautiful jewelry bags. She was happiest in the kitchen baking, where her homemade donuts became a treasured family tradition shared with every member of her family. Family meant everything to June. She and Tom loved dancing together and traveling, creating wonderful memories in places such as Switzerland, London and San Franscico, seeing Elvis in concert and attending Super Bowl VII. They also enjoyed taking their daughters on memorable family vacations to Hawaii, Florida and Washington D.C., and spending summers at Fort Peck Lake. Nothing made June happier than having all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren together at the Boje cabin making memories that will be cherished for generations. June loved playing cards, hosting card parties, attending coffee gatherings with friends and was an active member of the Homemakers Club and Birthday Club. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering love shaped the lives of those around her. She instilled strong values in her family through examples of kindness, hard work, humility, and unconditional love. June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom Boje (2009); her parents Gay and Helen (Blackwell) Skogas; her brothers, Wayne and George; her sisters, Arlene and Marlene. She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Jacky Boje Saur (Mike), grandson, Kale, great-grandchildren, River, Bailynn and Emmy, of Glendive Montana; daughter, Vonda Dinger (Don), of Dickinson, North Dakota; daughter, LaRae Dowson, granddaughter, Jayla Fowke (Josh), great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Dawson and Bridger, grandson Dylan (Cami), and great-grandchildren, Thomas and Caleb, of Missoula Montana, grandson, Logan (Talia), of Billings, Montana; daughter Kelli Alexander (Joe), and grandchildren Cassidy and Carson, of Florence, Montana, and Kelli’s nephew, Nolan (Shelby), who held a special place in her family and their children, Freddie and Riley of Lolo, Montana; sisters, Janet Hermann (Rick), and Sharon Unruh, of Glendive Montana and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom possessed a remarkable inner strength that became the foundation of us all. She showed us girls what it meant to be resilient, hardworking, selfless, and devoted. Through both life’s joys and hardships, she demonstrated that true strength is found in love, sacrifice, humility, and unwavering commitment to family. The lessons she taught through her actions more than words have been passed from one generation to the next. Her influence is a lasting gift that will continue for generations. In lieu of flowers, memorials in June's name are suggested to the Montana Down Syndrome Association or the Montana Special Olympics.
