Edith Marie Hinebauch

Glendive, Montana: Surrounded by her loving family, Edith Hinebauch, age 80, went to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, following a short, courageous battle with cancer. Edith was able to spend her last days at home because of the care given to her by her family. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, September 16, 2011 and 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Glendive Alliance Church in Glendive with Minister Rowlie Hutton officiating. Interment will be held in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements. Edith Marie Ludtke was born to Alfred and Ida (Largent) Ludtke on September 8, 1931, in Great Falls, Montana. She was a granddaughter of Joseph and Melinda Largent prominent pioneers of Cascade County. She was also a great-great granddaughter of Major John Largent who fought in the American Revolution. Edith attended most of her grade school years in Ulm, Montana, graduating from Great Falls High School in 1949. She attended Northern Montana College and graduated with a two-year teachers certificate in 1951. In the fall of 1951 Edith became the teacher at the Staton Coulee rural school north of Havre, Montana. On March 29, 1952, Edith married Walter Hinebauch, Jr. in Havre. They resided in Havre, farming with Walter's parents until March 1957. They then purchased the Statelen Farms in Turner, Montana. In August, 1980, they moved to Glendive, Montana, to continue farming, ranching and operating other business interests. Edith was immersed into Christ in 1959. She served in many roles, such as a Sunday School teacher and youth leader at the Turner Christian Church, and also had been involved in various activities at the Glendive Church of Christ. She was a pillar of faith to her family and many friends. Edith thoroughly enjoyed and was very supportive of all her children and grandchildren in all their various sporting events and other endeavors. Edith loved gardening, sewing, cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was well known for her championship pie and bread baking abilities. Her table was always open to any guests who were in need of a home cooked meal! From their hunting and cattle drive businesses she developed friends world wide. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Shane Hinebauch. She is survived by her husband, Walter, of nearly 60 years. Her children Randy (Lisa) Hinebauch of Chinook, Montana, Steven (Beth) Hinebauch of Glendive, Montana, Loren (Mary) Hinebauch, of Miles City, Montana, Cathy Luke of Harlem, Montana, Carla (Mark) Roseberry of Billings, Montana, Calvin (Marian) Hinebauch of Henderson, Nevada, Donald (Tammie) Hinebauch of Billings, Montana, Ida (John) Steen of Merrill, Iowa, Mary Ellen (Jim) Nagle of Lindsay, Montana, thirty-six grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren with one more soon to be here! Her sisters Helen Lower, Beverly Steen, Emily Jo Adams and brother Vernon (Judy) Ludtke, and lots of nieces and nephews also survive her.
