Douglas Danny Nissley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 29, 2025, after a life devoted to faith, family, and farming. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Glendive Evangelical Church with Pastors David Steinbron and Robert Canen co-officiating. Burial will follow at Red Top Cemetery in Bloomfield, MT. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with arrangements. Doug was born on September 24, 1943, to Rufus and Barbara Nissley at the Northern Pacific Hospital in Glendive, Montana. He was one of four children, Rod, Pat (Sis) and fourteen years later, Scott. He grew up in the Bloomfield area, where he quickly developed a love for farming. He especially enjoyed riding the horse he and his brother Rod received in the third grade. Out of necessity, Doug and Rod learned to drive farm equipment at a young age. In an autobiography written at age 13, Doug reflected, “At first when my dad taught me how to drive tractor I liked it but now I don’t like it quite as good.” He also wrote, “Some day, I would like to be a farmer or rancher!” Just four years later, at 17, Doug began a farming career that would span his lifetime. Raised in a Christian home, Doug accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Eastern Montana Bible Camp. Later in his teens, he recommitted his life to Christ at a local crusade, a decision that shaped the way he lived and worked. In 1965, after a successful flax crop, Doug purchased a Corvette. Soon after, he began dating his 'Tweety', Brenda Buck. After about a year of dating, and when the price of wheat went up, Doug and Brenda married. Their honeymoon took them to Yellowstone National Park in the Corvette, and upon returning, they found the Bloomfield valley “the greenest it had ever been.” Together, Doug and Brenda shared 58 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, faith, and family. Doug farmed alongside his father Rufus, forming a strong team—Rufus with his green thumb and Doug with his organizational skills and financial wisdom. Later, his brother Scott joined them, and Doug and Scott became lifelong partners and friends in farming. Doug was conscientious in his work and sought to live out his Christian faith daily in his dealings with others. Family was Doug’s greatest joy. He and Brenda raised three children—Cory, Kim, and Kristy. Doug loved playing softball with his kids, watching their school sports, and later spending time with his grandchildren. Harvest was always a highlight, when the children and their families returned to help in the fields, ride along in the combines, and share meals together. Doug and Brenda gave each of their children Bibles and said, “the only thing I ask is that you read the whole thing.” Doug loved his extended family deeply. Holidays were rotated between his and Brenda’s families, ensuring they spent meaningful time with both sides. Doug and Brenda also shared a special bond with her sisters family, Charlie and Sherry Welch and daughters Chelsey, Kasey and Katie, where he was affectionately known as “Doug Bob.” Doug also had a real soft spot for Scott & Brenda’s girls Liz and Katrina. Doug spent countless hours on the phone catching up with Rod and Pat (Sis), at times finding solutions to the world's problems. Their time together created many treasured memories. Doug enjoyed serving his community as he volunteered on several boards, including Grain Growers, Bloomfield School, Bloomfield Farmers Union, and Grandview. He enjoyed lending a hand wherever he could and valued the friendships he formed through his service. In recent years, Doug faced health challenges that required many doctor visits. After a lifetime of good health, it was difficult to learn that his liver was beyond repair. Yet even in illness, Doug’s faith deepened. During a family Bible study over Zoom, he shared that his sickness had brought him closer to the Lord. He and Brenda cherished trips to Billings, where they spent time together and grew closer to Kristy and her family. In his final days, Doug was surrounded by his loved ones, who treasured unforgettable moments with him. Doug’s legacy is one of faith, generosity, and devotion to family. He will be remembered for his steadfast love, his hospitality, and his commitment to living a life that honored God. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Barbara (Johnson) Nissley; sister-in-law, Rita Stortz; brother-in-law, Charlie Welch; mother- and father-in-law, Alvin and Lucille Buck; and nephew, Troy Martin. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Brenda Nissley; son, Cory (Janelle) Nissley and their children, Annie, Katy, Luke, Julia, and Jonathan; daughter, Kim (Clint) Wensley and their children, Jessica and Jace; daughter, Kristy (Joey) Blomberg and their children, Karlie and Austin; siblings, Rod (Janene) Nissley, Scott (Brenda) Nissley, and Pat (Kermit) Martin; numerous nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Frenchie Buck; and sister-in-law, Sherry Welch.
