Charles "Chuck" LeRoy Porter

Charles “Chuck” Leroy Porter Sr., 86, of Billings, Montana, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 02, 2023, at Silha Funeral Home in Glendive, Montana. Interment with military honors will follow in the Dawson County Cemetery. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements. Chuck was born November 13, 1936 to Lloyd and Etta (Burman) Porter in Glendive, Montana. He was raised and educated in Glendive, then enlisted with the United States Air Force. Chuck spent 20 years and 8 months in the United States Air Force, retiring with rank of Master Sergeant E-7 as a Jet Engine Mechanic. He was a Vietnam Veteran and was stationed in Washington, California, Louisiana, Montana, and Arizona where he retired. Chuck returned to Glendive in 1978, where he met Teresa Horst Reinhardt and they were married in April 1981. She brought two children to the marriage, Erikka and Kevin; joining Chuck’s children DeLyn, Chuck Jr., and Dani. Chuck worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for Eastmont Human Services Center, retiring after 15 years. Following retirement from Eastmont, you could find Chuck spending as much time as he could at the Cottonwood Country Club playing rounds of golf and making friendships. He was proud when he got a hole-in-one and was club champion net division once and handicap champion twice. Chuck enjoyed reading a good book, painting, being outside and taking care of the yard, visiting with the neighbors, playing on the computer, and going on family vacations. Chuck was proud to be a dad but being a Grandpa/Papa was pure joy. He taught many family members the game of golf, how to drive a golf cart, he enjoyed helping build pinewood derby cars, attending sporting events when he was able to, watching virtually when he wasn’t, and we cannot forget that he made the best Oreo pie! In 2015, they sold their home in Glendive and moved to Billings, Montana. Chuck had a great sense of humor. He was loving, caring, and generous to all. Chuck loved his family and in turn, he was loved by many. The family would like to acknowledge Brianna Pierce, his granddaughter, for her love, support, and dedication to Papa Chuck from the beginning of his illness to the end. Preceding Chuck in death are his parents, sisters Clara and Shirley, brothers Steve, Francis, and Leon, two of his beloved daughters DeLyn Gazaway and Erikka Mathison Pierce, and his Mother-in-law Babe Horst. Chuck is survived by his wife Teresa Porter, sister Emma (Jim) Rockne of Riverton, WY; Sister-in-law Myrna Porter of Glendive, MT; Father-in-law Fred Horst of Fromberg, MT; Children: Chuck Jr. (Lori) Porter of Covington, WA; Dani (Gordon) Almond of Glendive, MT; Kevin (Kristin) Reinhardt of Bismarck, ND; Grandchildren: Krystal (Timothy) Nelson and family of Corsicana, TX; Benny Gazaway and family of Graham, WA; Charles (Breanne) Porter of Puyallup, WA; Hannah Porter of Covington WA; Bradley Egeness of Glendive, MT; Jackie (Sterling) Mullet of Sidney, MT; Jenni Almond of St. Paul, MN; Josh (Mary) Almond of Glendive, MT; Dairick Pierce of Glendive, MT; Lindsey (Cole) Lewis of Dickinson, ND; Darien Pierce of Dickinson, ND; Brianna Pierce of Billings, MT; Kaleb, Kole and Kinley Reinhardt of Bismarck, ND; Great Grandchildren: Weston Porter of Puyallup, WA; Brian Egeness of Glendive, MT; Faith and Fiemond Mullet of Sidney, MT; Brecken, Bexleigh and Lochlan Lewis of Dickinson, ND and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
