Beverly Jean Wolff

Beverly passed away on June 27, 2026, at St. Benedictines Living Community in Dickinson, North Dakota. Beverly Jean Wolff (Odland) was born January 17, 1937, to Pearl (Reed) and Lewis Erick Odland in Bismarck, North Dakota. She was nicknamed Boots by her dad. She lived in Bismarck, ND until the age of 5, moving to Beach, ND with her parents starting school at Lapla Country School until 8th grade. She was a graduate of the class of 1954 at Beach High School. She attended one year of nurses training at Bismark School of Nursing, and graduated from Dickinson State Teachers College class of 1959, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, with a double minor in Music and Art. Beverly met the love of her life, a handsome airman named Darrell Wolff who proposed to her at the Medora Badlands Bible Camp. They were married at First Lutheran Church in Beach, ND on August 6, 1960. To this union two children were born. Dawn Michelle in 1961 and Darren Kirk in 1965, in Ellensburg, WA where Bev was teaching and Darrell was at ROTC Unit. Her travels continued with her family with Darrell’s military service taking family to Germany back to Washington State, California, and Illinois. After Darrell’s retirement they, moved to Beach, ND where they built their home overlooking Odland’s Dam. Bev (Boots) began working as a cook at the Park Café in Beach and substitute teaching in the Beach School system. She began working for Miller’s Grocery Store and Bud Miller’s Catering until she and Darrell bought Charlie’s Café in 1985. Changing the name to Grandma’s Kitchen, it became her passion running the restaurant and catering business, The Homestead House. Bev and Darrell continued their traveling, taking yearly trips to Las Vegas and Arizona to see their good friends Agnes and Jim Harchenko. Bev supported her children and grandchildren always with Darrell by her side. Cheering them on in all their school and extracurricular activities. Bev also worked at the Golden Valley Manor and La Playa after Darrell’s passing in 2003. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Beach, participating as a member of the choir, bell choir, church council, WELCA, and Badlands Cluster President. She was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary becoming Department President of North Dakota twice and National Chaplain. She just finished her term as District President this spring. Bev also served on the Beach City Council, Golden Valley County Hospital Board, and Golden Valley Manor Foundation Board. Bev enjoyed to travel taking trips with her family numerous times to Florida and Deadwood, SD, as she loved her poker machines. She traveled to numerous National Legion Conventions with her family. With her favorite being going to Oahu, Hawaii! She loved her music, art, bright colors, angels, butterflies and crosses. Having a beautiful collection of all of these. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings due to her Norwegian heritage. Bev could be seen driving down the streets of Beach checking on the condition of the city. She was proud of her family, and her happiest times were when her family was with her. She also loved her cats Miss Kitty, Harry and Angel. Bev was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Pearl Odland, her husband Darrell, and granddaughter-in-law, Lauramily. She is survived by her daughter Dawn (Mark) Egan of Beach, ND, son Darren (Greta) Wolff, of Rapid City, SD. Grandchildren Amber (Ryan) Ulrich, Erick (Robyn) Egan, Travis Wolff, Joseph Hogue, and great-granddaughters Dawn, Pearl, and Robin Hogue.
