Alice R. Wyse

Alice Rae (Hartse) Wyse, age 74, of Glendive, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 28, 2008 in Shepherd, Montana with loved ones at her side. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Friday, May 2, 2008 at the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Father Joseph Ponessa officiating. Rite of Committal will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements. Alice was born on December 9, 1933 in Wibaux, Montana, the third of five beautiful daughters born to Art and Myrtle (Bryson) Hartse. She attended elementary school in Carlyle, Montana transferring to Glendive in ninth grade and graduating from Dawson County High School in 1951. Alice worked as a bookkeeper for Farmers Union Oil Company of Glendive and had held various positions with First National Bank of Glendive. Alice was united in marriage to Jack Wyse on March 17, 1959 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive. She was a devoted wife, who always put forth extreme effort in all of their accomplishments. Together, during the 1970's and 1980's she and her husband owned and operated the Montana Inn Supper Club in Glendive. Enjoying her talent of bookkeeping, Alice later worked for an accounting firm in Glendive and volunteered with AARP during the tax season. Alice was an active member of the Catholic Church, participated in Cursillo's and Ultreya groups, always striving to learn and grow in her faith. It was evident by her actions as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Alice kindly gave of herself, taking time to listen, and adding Christian values and guidance. Her many friends and family members are a witness to this remarkable lady. Over the past two years, she has grown a very special bond with her great grandson William; sharing her faith and enjoying his unconditional love, they have blessed each others lives. Alice had a passion for learning and practicing reflexology. Always willing to try and comfort someone with her strong healing hands, many have enjoyed her massages. "Mother" was a wonderful cook, with a sweet tooth and her many favorite recipes that will be treasured. She always had a cup of coffee and goodies available for anyone who stopped by to visit. Alice has joined her husband Jack; parents, Art and Myrtle Hartse; sister, Gladyce Hartse; brother-in-law, Clifford Beach and other close family members in Heaven. Survivors include her son, Cy Wyse of Glendive; her daughter, Jackie Chelgren and her husband Gary of Shepherd, Montana; her grandchildren, Michael Chelgren of Shepherd, Montana, Cherie' Taylor and her husband Jay, and great grandson, William James Taylor of Fallon, Montana; stepson, Shawn Wyse and his wife Sandi of Williston, North Dakota, their children Steven Wyse, Matthew Wyse, Shelly Hayden and her family; three sisters, Lenore Beach of Ekalaka, Montana, Joan Beach and her husband Fay of Baker, Montana, Vonnie Vimpany and her husband Rusty of Helena, Montana. Alice not only touched the lives of her family, and the Wyse family, she also loved and appreciated all of her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her quiet, tender spirit has left a lasting imprint on all of us.
