Aimee Finkle

Aimee Marie (Storkel) Finkle, age 87, of Chandler, Arizona, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the La Estancia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive, Montana. A gathering of family and friends to share memories of Aimee will take place at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 30, 2012 in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Glendive with Pastor Dan Bartl officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements. Aimee was born to Herman & Hildur (Swing) Storkel on the family farm near Carlyle, Montana. on February 27, 1925. Aimee was the 5th of 6 children born into a loving, Christian family. After several years, the family left the farm so Herman could find work. Later, they returned to the Carlyle area to take over the family farm. Aimee attended the Olson School throughout the eighth grade, Carlyle High School for 3 ½ years and graduated from Wibaux High School in Wibaux, Montana with the class of 1944. She met the love of her life, Howard Finkle, while she was a senior. They graduated on the 19th of May and were married on the 26th.. Howard had already enlisted in the United States Navy, so after he went overseas in the fall, Aimee returned home to help her folks on the farm. After Howard's return, they lived in and around the Wibaux and Glendive areas. They celebrated their 67th anniversary and 67th class reunion in 2011. They were blessed with two children, JoAn and Jim, who in turn blessed them with 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandsons, and one great-great grandson, with two more great grandchildren on the way. While Howard worked in the oil field and ranched, Aimee was a homemaker all her married life and was a loving, devoted wife and mother. The story of her family is made up of love and time and memory…all the things that really matter, and at the heart of the story will always be this lovely woman. For 25 years, Aimee and Howard enjoyed spending the winters in the Mesa, Arizona area with their Montana friends and classmates hosting dinners, dancing, playing games and attending church. Summers were spent in Montana visiting with relatives and their many friends. In 2009, due to health concerns, Aimee and Howard decided to live full time in Mesa. After Howard's death on May 28, 2011, Aimee moved to Atria Chandler Villas in Chandler, Arizona. Aimee always had a strong faith and she spent many a happy hour testifying to her new friends about her Christian beliefs. Her favorite quotation was "Faith is acting upon what you believe to receive what you want and need". Aimee was preceded in death by her husband, Howard on May 28, 2011, her parents, Herman and Hildur Storkel, brothers, Conrad and Kenneth, sister, Beatrice, and grandson, Kent Brafford. Aimee is survived by her daughter, JoAn Brafford of Tempe, Arizona, her son, Jim (Nancy) Finkle of Rifle, Colorado; grandchildren, Kevin (Karolyn) Brafford, Korey Brafford, KayCee Storck, Lisa (Phillip)Peterson and Douglas Finkle; great grandchildren, Chris Brafford, Mitchell Brafford, Devan Brafford, Stefan Storck, Gregory Storck, Mikel Storck, Jason Storck, and Zachary Peterson and great–great grandchild, Jareth Brafford, sisters, Phyllis Bailey and Lois (Jim) Tallman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
