Stella Mae Bakken (Feisthamel)

October 8, 1927 - February 6, 2022

Stella Mae Rust Feisthamel Bakken, age 94, of Glendive, Montana, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022, at her home. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday May 21, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Father Francis Schreiber officiating. Rite of Committal will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements. Stella was the youngest of 9 children, born October 8, 1927, to William (Billy) Rust and Retina Deaux Rust in Glendive, Montana. She was raised and educated on the Divide near Lindsay and in Glendive, graduating from Dawson County High School with the class of 1945. Stella married Robert (Bob) M. Feisthamel October 18, 1947, in Glendive, to that union 4 children were born Robert R., Brian, Debra, and Marc. Stella worked a few years out of high school at a local bank, and then 33 years for First National Bank retiring in 1991. Stella kept active in the Glendive community with Zonta International, Epsilon Sigma Alpha (BETA Nu Chapter), bowling leagues, Republican Women’s, Toastmistress Club, Mental Health Association, local Red Cross, Baseball Mothers, and a member of County Council on Aging to name a few. She also enjoyed many summers at the cabin on Fort Peck (Rock Creek). She loved to dance, joining the Singles Club (with a lively bunch of ladies) after Bob passed away. She met Pete Bakken at one of these dances, they were married in May 2002 and added to the family a stepson Terry Bakken. Stella and Pete became snowbirds making Mesa, Arizona their winter home. Since 2018, Stella has stayed close to home enjoying her time at the Sagebrush Alley Center playing cards, and the companionship of many friends and family. Stella is survived by Son, Robert R. (Feisty) Feisthamel of Mt. Vernon, MO; Daughter, Debra (Ron) Waters of Sidney, MT; Stepson, Terry Bakken of Fort Meyers, FL; Grandchildren, Tina (Scott) Potter of Missoula, MT, Russell (Shawna) Feisthamel of Glendive, MT, Carlin Feisthamel of Idaho Falls, ID, Tim Feisthamel of Bountiful, UT, Chris (Chelsea Painter) Waters of Sidney, MT, Mandi (Ian) Nelson of Mankato, MN, Brittni (Taylor Harless) Feisthamel of New Hope, MN; 8 Great-grandchildren; sister in laws, Maxine Erickson of Miles City, MT and Bonnie Broeder of Glendive, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Billy and Retina Rust, All her siblings and their spouses, husbands Bob Feisthamel, Pete Bakken, sons Brian and Marc Feisthamel, granddaughter Rachele Waters.
