Joseph "Joedy" E. Bragg Jr.

June 13, 1951 - September 1, 2021

Joseph "Joedy" E. Bragg, age 70, of Beach, ND passed away on September 1, 2021 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Sentinel Butte Community Center in Sentinel Butte, ND with Pastor Larry Phalen officiating. Interment will be held at Sentinel Butte Cemetery. Silha Funeral Home of Beach has been entrusted with the arrangements. Joedy was born on June 13, 1951, in Meade, KS to Natalie A. (Dumler) and Joseph E. Bragg Sr., the 5th of 6 children. He came from a cattleman’s background and as a young boy, Joedy’s family bought a 9 ½ section ranch where his interest in becoming a cattleman was sparked and pursued over the years. As a child, he was active in 4-H, showing Shorthorn calves at the fair and working many long days learning the trade of ranching from his father. It became his dream and ambition to own that ranch someday, but those plans changed when the ranch was sold when he was 18. In high school he was a linebacker all four years that the Limon Badgers won state championships. After graduating from Limon High School in Limon, CO in 1969, Joedy went on to attend one year at the University of Nebraska where he became an avid Huskers fan which continued throughout his lifetime. Joedy moved on to the University of Colorado, in Boulder, CO to earn a business degree. During the summer months of college, Joedy chose a career of “wildcatting” in the oilfields of Wyoming to help pay the bills. He often reminisced about the broke days of buying a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter to feed himself through the week. This would be the beginning of a future career in many different aspects and areas of the oil business, eventually moving him on to become a landman, oil leaser, investor, and business owner. During his years as a landman, he was often asked if he knew how to do a project, and his answer was always “yes” as he knew he could figure it out once he got the job. He saw many ups and downs in the oil industry over the years and was always determined to navigate a path through the tough years. The oil business eventually brought him to Beach where he met the love of his life, Pamela Bragg. In 1998, they married and he instantly became a wonderful step-father to 3 teenage kids. He later took on the role of Grandpa Joedy and was known as the “Activity Director” of the family. He also earned the title “World Famous Marble Player” throughout endless tournaments with his grandchildren. Joedy always had big ideas and enjoyed making big plans. He was very generous and enjoyed blessing his children, grandchildren and many others throughout the years with many great opportunities and advice. Joedy loved to cook and prepared many “World Famous” dishes for family gatherings. He definitely loved to lend a helping hand to others and lived life to its fullest with many irons in the fire at all times. In later years, he enjoyed bird hunting, fishing at Potato Lake, MN where he and Pam have a cabin, wintering in Texas, and golfing with his friends. He had a love of listening to gospel music and the oldies. His most recent project was ranching. This kept him busy, and at the age of 67 he was able to achieve his childhood and lifelong dream of owning his own ranch. Joedy had a huge personality and was the kind of guy that never met a stranger. He had the gift of gab and loved to share with others his passion for Jesus and his testimony of what the good Lord had done for him over the years. We can rest confident that he is now rejoicing with His Lord and Savior. Joedy is survived by his wife, Pamela, his three children and their families: daughter, Kara (Troy) Finneman, Kamryn, Brynn, & Aeryn; daughter, Amanda (Dennis) Bieber, Amanda Marie (Brett), Dustin, Alexandra (Mikey) Baby Nicholas, Emma, and Tristan; Matthew (Michelle) Marman, Noah and Emmett; his brother, James Bragg of Bowman, ND; his sisters, Barbara Bragg of Topeka, KS and Cynthia (Gary) Sherman of Omaha, NE; his brother, Thomas Bragg of Tucson, AZ; his sister, Marcia (Bob) Weygant of Dayton, OH; his treasured in-laws; multiple cherished nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Sparky. Joedy is preceded in death by his father and mother along with many loved ones. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at: www.silhafuneralhomes.com
