Janie Dee Kunick Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Janie Dee Kunick, 50, Fargo, ND, chose to end her life on May 16, 2022 at her home. Janie was born August 30, 1971 in Beach, ND, to Bernard (Bud) and Alice Kunick. She attended school in Beach and upon her graduation she moved on and spent time in Williston, Dickinson, and Fargo working as a CNA at nursing homes in each city. Janie truly loved working with the elderly but found she had to move on from being a CNA due to the physical demands of the job. Leaving health care, she then spent her remaining years at various businesses in Fargo. Janie was very gifted and enjoyed cross stitching and more lately sewing. Her home displayed the many beautifully cross-stitched, matted, and framed pictures on her walls. Taking a break from fine thread, canvas, and a needle; she began to sew. It was during this time that everyone in the family, including all the dogs in the family, received a quilt. When the pandemic hit, she kept busy making hundreds of masks to give away and bowl cozies. While she truly loved her family, we often teased her that she “loved her dogs more than people”! Taking them to the dog park was also something she enjoyed. Janie was very thoughtful and caring to those around her and will be truly missed by those who knew her. As a family, she always reached out and was there if we needed, or even thought we needed anything, but sadly she wasn’t able to admit or reach out for help herself. Janie was preceded in death by her father, Bud Kunick; brother, Steven Kunick; sister, Becky Swanson; and her three dogs, Gizmo, Sammi and Lexi. Janie leaves behind a shocked and numb family; mother, Alice Kunick; sisters, Jackie (Craig) Ross, Maxine Peterson, Debra Hoelscher, Tammy (Russ) Woodland; four nieces; one nephew; three great-nephews; and one great-niece. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Ace and Goose. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 17, 2022 at Boulger Funeral Home. Janie’s service will be live-streamed starting at 10:00 AM. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on June 21, 2022 at the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Sentinel Butte, N.D. with Pastor Avis Anderson officiating.
