James Paul Goroski

James Paul Goroski, age 87, of Glendive, Montana passed away peacefully on March 16, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. A Rosary Service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Sacred Heart Church in Glendive. Mass of Christian Burial will follow, starting at 11:00 am, with Father Francis Schreiber officiating. Rite of Committal will follow in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements. James P was born in Wibaux County Montana on July 13, 1934, the son of Leo and Eva (Beeler) Goroski. He joined his older brother, Larry, where they grew up with many adventures on the family farm which was located 30 miles south of Wibaux. He graduated from Eighth Grade in 1948 and continued his education through life experiences. James P helped many neighbors with farm work as he grew up. He also acquired skills while working construction, oil field and road work. He was a “GEM” of all trades. In July of 1957, James P began his career as an elevator worker at the Wibaux Co-op Elevator. From there he worked at Grain Growers Inc. in Glendive for 20 years. In 1985 he became the manager of Hubbard Milling Co. in Sturgis, SD. In 1997 James P retired ending a 40-year career in the elevator industry. After moving back to Glendive, he did odd jobs as he enjoyed retirement. On July 12, 1958, James P married his sweetheart, Eileen Scherman at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Golva, North Dakota. They were blessed with eight children: Susan, Girard, Edna, Curtis, Sylvia, Evonne, Calvin, and Jan. Family was very important. James P was a faithful, Christian who led by example. He loved to garden, ride horse, and tinker. James P was always willing to help others. He was a Knights of Columbus member for 44 years. James P was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Eva, his brother, Larry, and his daughter, Susan. He is survived by Eileen, his loving wife of nearly 64 years; seven children include Girard (Shari) Goroski of Glendive, MT; Edna (Grant) Paulson of Bowman, ND; Curtis (Mary) Goroski of Fargo, ND; Sylvia Goroski of Morrison, CO; Evonne (Michael) Bird of Kirksville, MO; Calvin (Sara) Goroski of Colorado Springs, CO; & Jan (Cory) Goroski of Littleton, CO. Twelve grandchildren include Breann (Brice) Larson, Garrett Goroski, Gavin (Michelle) Goroski; Luke Paulson; Jacob (Fiancée Zoe Mischtian) Goroski, Jessica (Fiancé Jordan Johnson) Goroski; Koby, Keegan, & Kelsey Bird; Eva Goroski; Leah & Ethan Goroski; two great grandchildren Adelise and Beckett Larson; one sister-in-law Louise Paul of WI, and many nieces and nephews.
