Brenda Marie Herbaugh

Brenda Marie Herbaugh, age 49, of Glendive, Montana, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Silha Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Garman officiating. Interment will follow in Dawson County Cemetery. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements. Brenda was born on January 2, 1971 in New Castle, Wyoming, a daughter of Chuck and Ruth (Peterson) Powell. As a child, Brenda and her family moved around a lot due to her father’s job in the oil field. Eventually the family made their way to Glendive which became Brenda’s lifelong home. She graduated from Dawson County High School with the class of 1989. Following her high school education, she started college at Dawson Community College where she received her associate of arts degree in 1991. At that time, she then went on to further her education by attending Dickinson State University and then moved back to Glendive. She then worked at Kmart for several years, and various other jobs here and there while also attending school. On January 7, 2006, Brenda married the love of her life, John Herbaugh, in Glendive. Not long after, Brenda started Auntie’s Daycare. Over the years of running her daycare, all of those kids became Brenda’s kids too. Brenda was a selfless person who loved helping others. If you were hungry, she’d make you a plate full of food. If you had no place to go, then she’d make a bed for you. Brenda also loved crocheting and giving many of her creations to her family and friends. Some of her favorite things to crochet were baby blankets, gloves, and hats. Brenda was active in several community groups, including Eastern Star, and ABATE. Two groups that were close to her heart were the Glendive Foster Care Project and the Big Sky Child Care Association which formed many friendships. She is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and one brother, Chuckie Powell. Brenda will be forever missed by her parents, Chuck and Ruth; her husband, John; her children, Ashton Nunberg, Andrew Powell, Kileaka Herbaugh, Ezra Herbaugh, Amanda Herbaugh, Joseph (Elyse) Herbaugh, Marissa Herbaugh, Taylor Herbaugh, Hunter Herbaugh, and Connor Herbaugh; her grandchildren, Kaliann, Bailey, Rylie, Kaydynce, Leland, Tucker, and TJ; her brother, Mike (Terry) Smith; her sister, Melissa Kwasney (Doug Gullikson); and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and adopted kids.
